Sherrie Boutwell, Partner at Boutwell Fay, will highlight recent decisions, settlements, and trends in ERISA litigation, with an emphasis on how plan sponsors and plan service providers can use insights from recent decisions to proactively reduce or mitigate risks. Some of the topics and cases that we will cover include:

• The United States Supreme Court's 2022 decision in Hughes v. Northwestern University and how that has impacted subsequent decisions of lower courts
• The Ninth Circuit's decision in Wit v. United Behavioral Health and the DOL's new emphasis on mental health parity
• Recent cases involving risk mitigation measures such as: mandatory arbitration, shortened statute of limitations and other defensive measures
• The impact of the United States Supreme Court's denial of certiorari in Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Ass'n v. Cal. Secure Choice Ret. Savings Program on state mandated retirement plans and preemption issues"
