Who CARES!: Regulatory Conditions in an Infected World

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, enacted March 27, 2020, provided retirement plan relief and assistance to plan sponsors and employees as well as changes to welfare plans. Since then there's been a flurry of guidance on how to apply the new rules and requirements, which generally will still be in effect through 2020. Plan sponsors will also need to deal with the issues that will follow such as loan reinstatements, tax reporting, and repayment of distributions.

This webinar will recap the new rules and guidance under the CARES Act, and cover other employee benefit implications of workforce changes during this unprecedented time. We will focus on issues that employers will need to address for administering CARES Act provisions, as well as "return to work" considerations in employee benefits.

Brenda Berg
Partner, Holland & Hart LLP

Brenda provides invaluable insight to employers on a wide array of tax and ERISA matters affecting employee benefit plans. She has over 20 years of experience as an employee benefits attorney plus a background in accounting and third-party 401(k) plan administration. Brenda’s advice ranges from the initial design and drafting stage, through the day-to-day administration questions and complications that arise. Brenda has extensive experience with 401(k), defined benefit, health and welfare, and nonqualified deferred compensation plans. Brenda was previously the President of the Denver Chapter of Western Pension (2014-2016) and the President of the Governing Board of Western Pension chapters (2017-2018). She was named The Best Lawyers in America© Lawyer of the Year in Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law, for Denver in 2017 and 2019. Brenda is currently the Practice Group Leader for the firm’s Tax and Benefits practice group.
