As we draw closer to the 2020 election season, we will review continued evolutions in the federal and state health and welfare benefits landscape, including:

• Federal legislative proposals to address the rising costs of health insurance, such as surprise medical billing and rising drug costs.
• Presidential candidate proposals for health insurance,
• Regulatory and litigation updates, including a new method for employer reimbursement of individual policy premiums, and
• State legislative efforts, with a focus on Colorado bills proposed in the current 2020 legislative session.

About Our Presenter:

Rebecca Atkins is a Senior Principal in Mercer’s nationwide Health & Benefits Regulatory Resource Group (the “RRG”), which is a group of attorneys and other compliance professionals focusing on health and welfare plan compliance issues. Rebecca also leads Mercer’s West Market RRG team. Rebecca provides legal, regulatory and compliance support to Mercer’s clients and health and benefits consultants in Mercer’s Mountain States region, as well as nationwide. She consults on issues for clients of all sizes on all matters of health and welfare compliance, including ERISA, the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA, COBRA, tax issues and other federal laws pertaining to health and welfare plans. She also drafts plan documents and conducts compliance reviews and audits. She is a frequent speaker at Mercer and industry events.
