Decumulation in Defined Contribution Plans – What’s the Right Strategy?

As defined contribution plans become the primary retirement vehicle, plan sponsors are actively considering how, or if, their plans will serve participants not just to but through retirement. Should the plan allow for flexible withdrawal options? Should it offer annuity or other insured options? What kind of advice or guidance do retirees need? Emerging regulatory guidance has sought to clarify and frame potential strategy. Plan providers are also focusing on new products that can meet the complex needs of both sponsor and participant. However, picking the right strategy is still a weighty task, for everyone involved. During this talk, we will explore the complexity around retirement income options from multiple perspectives, and theorize on future trends and changes on the horizon.
