Economic Update

The presentation will provide an in-depth analysis of trends in the economy and financial markets and will conclude with recommendations on investment strategy. Fritz will addresses these key issues:
  • The Goldilocks economy. It may be a hackneyed phrase but it’s an accurate description of the present situation. We’ll take you through the strong economic outlook, low inflation data.
  • The end of QE and the Fed’s inevitable first rate hike. What does it mean for bond yields? For stocks? For the economy?
  • Crude oil price war. What triggered it? Impact on the U.S. economy.
  • U.S. debt crisis. What are the numbers? What’s the solution?
  • Earnings and stocks. Earnings and the inflation outlook fundamentally drive stock prices. Are stocks overvalued? Understanding stock market arithmetic.
  • Investment strategy. Modern Portfolio Theory – is it dead? A look at the numbers. Don’t confuse MPT with buy-and-hold. Tactical asset allocation … how’s that working out for you.

About the Presenter

Fritz Meyer, economist and market commentator, publishes periodic updates and opinion on the economy, markets and investment strategy. He has been a frequent guest on CNBC, Bloomberg TV and Fox Business Network, he has often been quoted in financial and business publications and he regularly speaks to financial advisors and their clients. Prior to starting his own firm in 2011, Mr. Meyer spent 15 years with Invesco and began his investment career in 1976. He was Invesco’s Senior Market Strategist, and has managed large-cap equity mutual funds and multi-cap equity and fixed-income client portfolios. Mr. Meyer earned his A.B. degree from Dartmouth College with a distinction in economics and his Master of Business Administration degree from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College.
